Tip of the Month - February

Releasing the Golf Club

Learning how to properly release the golf club is so very important to your ball flight, distance and direction. It is really not a natural move and takes understanding of the concept and practice of the motor skill.

First check your grip and make sure you can see two knuckles of your left hand and that the club is in the fingers of the right hand. Grip pressure should be light not tight. The right hand should cross over the left NOT under the left hand on your downswing.

tip Try to swing with these couple of thoughts in mind. As your swinging down your right palm should face up at the sky not down at the ground. The left palm should face down at the ground not up at the sky. Notice in the picture how my glove is underneath the left hand after I have hit the ball not on top.

The proper release of your forearms will result in a draw and the old slice will go away. Good Luck with your practicing and Have Fun!!
